FLA Theatre Wins Again!
On Saturday, January 7, FLA Theatre attended the Regional Thespian Festival at Durham School of the Arts. This is a Festival in which students compete in individual events such as monologue, musical, and tech events.
FLA had students competing in 9 categories and we are beyond excited to share that ALL Students competing have scored high enough to advance to the State Festival in March! Students competed in the following categories:
Costume Design- Matthew Kearns
Set Design- Anna Rule
Stage Management- Simon Law
Duet Acting- Tanner Moore and Maddie Clark
Costume Construction- Isis Washington
Sound Design- Tanner Moore
Duet Musical Theatre- Anna Rule and Josh Harding
Makeup Design- Isis Washington
Playwriting- Matthew Kearns
Our program also competed in the Tech Challenge, which is a series of events that test technical theatre knowledge and speed. Each event is timed and the team with the shortest time wins. And...
WE WON! FLA Theatre had the fastest time overall and won the Tech Challenge for our region (which includes schools from Durham, Raleigh, Apex, Wake Forest Cary, etc).
We are immensely proud of these students and the Theatre program at FLA. They will be heading to Eastern Carolina University in March to attend and compete at the 3 day State Thespian Festival with hopes that they will have some students advance to Nationals for the second year in a row. Please join us in congratulating this incredible program!
