Sonya Denny- 7th Grade (Science)
Welcome to my seventh grade science class here at Falls Lake Academy! How cool is it to increase your knowledge in science while having fun by conducting labs and interactive lessons using various technology resources? As your teacher, I have been teaching science for twenty-seven years. Throughout my teaching career, I have always been an avid fan of technology and how technology, when used as a tool, along with project based learning promotes students from proficient learners to experience, real world problem solvers.
I graduated with my bachelor's degree from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington in 1990. My teaching career began at Brewster Middle School located at Camp Lejeune Military Base located in Jacksonville, North Carolina. I moved back to Oxford, North Carolina and accepted a job at Northern Granville Middle school in August of 1991. During my years at NGMS, I completed my AIG Certification in 1998 and my Master in Reading in 2013.
One of my main educational principles; learning is a life-time endeavor and every day I try to learn some new fact or principle. As my career has continued, this philosophy has enabled me to keep up with the technological changes. I love sharing and learning with my students. This love of teaching has help me to succeed year to year in my new position at Falls Lake Academy. I look forward to any new challenges and epic learning opportunities. Let's have a terrific year!
